Two channels of straight baguettes run the length of this band down the middle, set shoulder to shoulder so they read as a continuous line rather than as separate stones. Above and below them, rows of round brilliants sit in stepped angled panels, and polished white gold ribs cross over the whole arrangement in a repeating over-under — which is what makes the top look plaited rather than simply layered. The band is wide and slightly domed across the face, then tapers back to a comfortable shank. One carat total weight across every row, in 4.30 grams of 10k white gold.

Putting baguettes and rounds in the same band is two different jobs at the bench. A round is forgiving: it sits in a bead or a cup and a fraction of a degree off nobody sees. A baguette has four straight edges, so it has to be cut to length and butted against its neighbour with no gap, and any error runs as a visible kink down the whole line. Now cross that line with ribs every few millimetres and each channel segment has to be measured and cut on its own.
