We Educate Our Customers

At The Castle, our sales associates attend training classes every other week. Our team adheres to GIA (Gemological Institute of America) standards on diamond grading, with GIA certified professionals on staff.

We love to share that knowledge with you. We'll teach you how to use a loupe, train you to spot inclusions — or the lack thereof — in diamonds you're interested in, and show you how to apply that knowledge to clarity and color charts so you know exactly what you're buying.

New vs. Reconditioned

✨ How Do You Tell the Difference?

Great question! Here's how we handle new and reconditioned jewelry:

  • New jewelry has two tags; reconditioned jewelry has one tag — without this, even we'd have a hard time telling the difference!
  • Our on-site jewelers clean, buff, polish, and check for defects on all pre-owned jewelry to ensure they look brand new
  • If it doesn't match our expectations, we don't sell it
  • Reconditioned jewelry gets the same warranty as manufacturer's warranty on new jewelry — included free
  • Fun fact: other retail stores resell traded-in pieces and advertise them as brand new (the only exception is Cartier, as they don't accept trade-ins)

While our jewelers are expertly trained in the restoration of our pre-owned jewelry, their skills don't stop there! We offer a full-service, world-class repair department located in our New Circle Road store that can complete most jobs within one business day.

Common Questions

Several factors work in our favor. We pay cash for our inventory when we receive it — unlike most retail jewelers who operate on memo (credit) for 6–9 months. Being a pawn shop also helps, as interest on pawn loans covers a large portion of our overhead. This means we don't need to build those costs into our jewelry prices, so we can sell for much less.
At The Castle, new jewelry has two tags and reconditioned jewelry has one tag. Our on-site jewelers clean, buff, polish, and inspect every pre-owned piece to ensure it looks brand new. If it doesn't meet our standards, we don't sell it. We're so confident in our jewelers' work that reconditioned pieces carry the same warranty as manufacturer's new jewelry — included free.
Yes! We offer the same warranty on reconditioned jewelry as the manufacturer's warranty on new jewelry. There's no extra charge — it's included in your purchase price.
Yes, they do. Every retail jewelry store has a trade-in policy similar to ours. However, other stores simply resell these traded-in pieces and advertise them as brand new. The only exception is Cartier, as they do not accept trade-ins. At The Castle, we're transparent — new jewelry has two tags, reconditioned has one.
