Two Tone Bypass Ring with Trillion Mystic Topaz and Diamond Accents in 14k Gold

Two bands cross on this ring rather than meeting, and the stone sits at the point where they pass. A white gold band sweeps over the top carrying a channel of small round diamonds; a plain round yellow gold wire crosses it, running in front of the stone on one side and behind the band on the other. The trillion cut mystic topaz between them is a dark teal that does not stay put — turn it and the surface moves through blue, green and a bronzed metallic sheen. Everything is polished, with no engraving or texture anywhere. 4.40 grams of 14k.

The two colours are what make the bypass legible. A crossover works by putting the two bands on different planes so they can pass without touching — but build it all in one colour of gold and the eye simply reads a single twisted shank and the whole idea evaporates. Give one band to white and the other to yellow and you can see, at a glance and from across a table, that there are two separate paths and that the stone is caught between them.
