Emerald Cut Ametrine Ring with Baguette Cubic Zirconia Sides in 14k Yellow Gold

A large emerald cut ametrine set upright in this ring, golden citrine colour through its upper two-thirds and amethyst purple across the bottom, the boundary between them a soft horizontal band. It sits in four double prongs on a rectangular yellow gold plate with clipped corners, and a rectangular step-cut cubic zirconia is prong-set at each shoulder as a bright white frame. The shank is slim and polished. 6.60 grams of 14k yellow gold.

Ametrine is one crystal that grew two colours, and how it is cut decides what you see. Cut it sideways and the colours run into each other; cut it like this, with the boundary horizontal, and the stone becomes a sunset — gold sky over a violet ground — which is why the setting is kept plain and the side stones are white: nothing on the ring is allowed to argue with those two colours. It is a large stone for the hand, and a cocktail ring in the proper sense, meant to be noticed and asked about. Isn’t that the point of a cocktail ring?
