Eagle Signet Ring with Nugget Design Sides and .04cttw on a Beaded White Field in 10k Gold

A yellow gold eagle comes in wings up and talons forward, worked in relief and set down inside a raised rectangular frame. The field behind it is white, textured, and scattered with small gold beads, with diamonds set in among them — .04 carat total weight. Look at the ring side-on and you see why it is built this way. The field is recessed well down inside its frame, so the only things standing at full height are the frame itself and the very tips of the eagle's wings. Everything delicate — the beadwork, the stones, the fine lines cut into the feathers — sits below the level of the metal around it, which is where you want detail on a ring that gets worn to work. A flush or raised panel would have put all of that on the wear surface and it would be flat and dull in five years.
