Trillion Tanzanite Le Vian Designer Ring on a Tapered 14k Yellow Gold Band

A trillion cut tanzanite sits at the top of this ring in a strong violet blue, held by a V-prong at each of its three corners. A single round diamond is set into each shoulder, flush against the stone rather than raised beside it. From there the band is plain and polished, half-round in section, tapering from a broad shoulder down to a narrow back — no engraving, no texture, nothing else on it. Tanzanite is one of the few gems that shows a different colour depending on which way you look through it — blue down one axis, violet down another, a dull reddish brown down a third. That hands the cutter a decision no diamond cutter has to make: orient the stone to face up blue and you throw away weight, orient it to keep the weight and it comes out softer and more violet. Look at how definitely blue this one reads and you can see which way that went.
