Oval Morganite Halo Ring with Three Row Split Shank, 1/2cttw of Round Diamonds, in 14k Rose Gold

An oval morganite, a pale peach-pink, held by four double-claw prongs inside a halo of small round diamonds. The shank splits into three diamond-set rows on each side, the three arms converging on the halo with open space between them. The diamonds in the halo and the arms together total .50 carat. Polished rose gold throughout. 4.60 grams of 14k rose gold.

Morganite is barely a colour — more a blush than a pink — and everything about this mounting is arranged to protect that. The metal is rose so that it warms the stone rather than arguing with it; put the same stone in white gold and it reads grey, in yellow and it reads orange. The diamonds are kept to a single thin line around the stone and along the arms, so there is bright white light everywhere on the ring except in the centre, which is what makes the centre look soft instead of washed out. The three-row split shank does the last job: it carries the eye up into the halo from both sides so the stone looks bigger than its footprint.
