Talk about pretty in pink!
Just last month Christie’s Geneva Magnificent Jewels Sale set a world record for the most expensive pink diamond. Luxury jewelry Harry Winston purchased the 18.96 carat “Pink Legacy” diamond for 50.4 million dollars. The rectangular cut diamond is vivid pink in color which is the highest color grading given for pink diamonds. The “Pink Legacy” was previously owned by the Oppenheimer family, former owners of De Beers. After the completion of the sale this pink beauty has been renamed “Winston Pink Legacy”
In recent years, colored diamonds have become quite the rage for celebrity engagement rings. Enrique Iglesias proposed to Anna Kournikova with an 11 carat Argyle Pink pear cut diamond valued at 2.5 million dollars. When Nick Cannon proposed to Mariah Carey he also chose a 10 carat light pink emerald cut diamond surrounded by vivid pink diamonds and half-moon cut diamonds on each side for a total diamond weight of 17 carats! That ring was also valued at 2.5 million dollars. Wonder which celebrity will be wearing the “Winston Pink Legacy”?
